Brevard County Florida Deputy shot and killed

On Tuesday morning 03/06/2012 Brevard County Deputy Sheriff Barbara Pill initiated a traffic stop in Melbourne Florida on a suspect vehicle with two occupants, wanted for questioning in a theft of property from a motel in the area. Deputy Pill ordered the driver out of the vehicle. The driver Brandon Lee Brady 22, exited the vehicle and immediately shot Deputy Pill several times. The actor got back into the vehicle and fled. Multiple police agencies pursued the suspect vehicle and deployed stop sticks, causing the vehicle to crash. Both Brady and a female passenger were taken into custody.

Deputy Pill was rushed to Holmes Regional Medical Center, where she succumbed to her wounds. Deputy Barbara Pill has been in law enforcement for 30 years, she was a 15 year veteran of the Brevard County Sheriff's Office. Barbara is survived by her husband, two sons who also serve in law enforcement, and a grandchild.
