Lake County Deputy Sheriff killed by vehicular assault

On Tuesday, March 6, 2012 at approximately 7pm, as four Deputies of the Lake County Indiana Sheriff's Office were jogging on the perimeter of the Lake County Jail, an vehicle, possibly an SUV accelerated towards the deputies, striking all four of them and sped away from the scene. Deputy Britney Meux 25 years old, a 3 year veteran and the mother of a 5 month old girl was killed instantly. Deputy Delano Scaife 22 years old, who has been with the Sheriff's office for 4 months underwent extensive surgery and is listed in critical condition. Deputy David Murchek 25 years old, a five year veteran of the Sheriff's office and is the son of Lake County Deputy Police Chief Dan Murchek, is listed in fair condition, and Deputy Latasha Renea Johnson 34 years old, a five year veteran of the Sheriff's office is also listed in fair condition.
